The good people of AfroTech Mods were kind enough to compile a trilogy of videos describing the functions of an oscilloscope, as well as what to look for when purchasing the equipment.  While you’re there, check out some of his other projects!

Before you go out and buy your own ‘scope, you’ll need to know some more about basic tools!  Watch this video to learn about how to use a multimeter!  Note: They go off on a tangent about resistor color codes..  And they’re using a really crappy meter.  Don’t listen to them about what meter to buy, just get a cheap digital one (~$10), that should do most of what you’ll need as a beginner, then it’s expendable too.
